Conscious Creativity – Episode One

Being a working mum, I have limited time to create. Considered consumption is a new series where I will share my knitting and sewing projects that are focused on making things that complement or contribute to my existing wardrobe. I want to make beautiful wearable things in the time I have available.

It is unlikely that my podcast will ever have a multitude of finished objects, elaborate trips to yarn festivals, or extensive stash enhancement. What it will have is real life, interruptions, chatter about finding balance, insights on how I manage it all – with perhaps a little of the rest sprinkled in. I hope you stick around to enjoy the show.

Sew and Tell

I have been working through a small selection of thrifted items that I am refashioning. Today I was wearing a top that was a navy blue linen blend shift dress. I had to unpick the darts, cut it off and then re- hem and put the darts back in the back of the garment. I am really happy with how it came out and have a wool skirt that desperately needs to become a knee length A-Line skirt next.

As well as trying to decide between the On the Beach Sweater (L) and the After the Rain sweater (R)

Sweaters

I am also dying to knit up another lace shawl which I have a lovely skein of Skein Top Drawer sock set aside for. I am trying to decide between the Rosewater shawl (L) and the Marbelous Shawl (R)

I also have a special braid of Polwarth/silk from Fiberartemis on Etsy.

Wondering Wolle?

In this episode I ponder the importance of making mistakes in knitting and learning to live with mistakes in some cases and the value of patience and persistence in others.

My question for you this week is all about the knitting skills and techniques – What technique are you most keen to try next?
